Community members donated at Smith\u2019s Ballpark throughout the day on September 11 and received ticket vouchers to a Bees game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShelter the Homeless is so fortunate to have the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies as a partner. I can\u2019t tell you how invaluable it is to know you\u2019re supporting the needs of the community we serve,\u201d said Laurie Hopkins, Executive Director, Shelter the Homeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Salt Lake Bees planned several events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The Bees started the day by turning on the Smith\u2019s Ballpark stadium lights at 6:46 a.m. (MT), the time American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The lights at the stadium remained on for 24 hours to honor the victims of 9\/11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the game, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall joined the Bees in leading a moment of silence. \u201cAs we reflect on the 20th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, our thoughts are with the individuals and the families whose lives were forever changed that day, and the servicemen and women who have served and defended our nation every year since,\u201d said Mayor Mendenhall. \u201cSeptember 11 and the years that have passed have changed us as individuals, as Fire Departments across this country, as cities, and as a nation. Today, and always, we remember.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An honor guard of Salt Lake City Fire and Police conducted a flag ceremony, the Salt Lake City Fire Department Choir performed the National Anthem, and Salt Lake City Fire Department Deputy Chief, Rusty McMicken, threw the first pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets for the game on Saturday were half price for first responders as a thank you for their sacrifice and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure
