Several Service Projects Took Place on SLC’s West Side Where Larry H. and Gail Miller Were Raised
Employees Exceeded 3,000 Service Hours Across 12 States
Nearly 1,200 employees across the Larry H. Miller Company and its business platforms participated in the annual Larry H. Miller Week of Service from April 22-26. This is the 14th year employees gathered to honor our founder’s legacy. Service projects took place in 12 states and ranged from neighborhood revitalization efforts to partnering with local food banks, first aid services, and more.
On April 24, members of the Miller family and the Larry H. Miller Company gathered at Sherwood Park on the west side of Salt Lake City to clean up baseball fields, paint the bleachers and restore the BBQ area to foster community gathering and youth sports participation at the park.
Larry H. Miller, who passed away in 2009, supported giving back to the communities where he did business and lived by the philosophy to “Go about doing good until there’s too much good in the world.”
“Every year, I look forward to this special week of highlighting our company values and honoring my father’s legacy,” said Steve Miller, chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. “Our proximity to the communities we serve reinforces our commitment to make a meaningful and lasting impact where we live, work and play.”
In addition to Sherwood Park, service projects throughout the week in Utah included assembling menstrual kits for those experiencing homelessness with the Policy Project’s Period Project; serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House; and cleaning vehicles for Neighborhood House, where Larry H. Miller spent time as a child on the west side of Salt Lake City.
“The Larry H. Miller Week of Service is a testament to the Miller family’s dedication to enriching lives,” said Steve Starks, CEO of the Larry H. Miller Company. “Our employees served across the country to help lift communities and honor our founder’s legacy of giving back. Our company values of hard work, integrity, stewardship and service guide us daily in how we do business and how we serve the community.”
Employees serving in 12 states, such as Colorado, Kansas and California, partnered with food pantries, the Humane Society, various outdoor clean-up organizations and more.
In Meridian, Idaho, employees of Aspen Transitional Rehab participated in a week-long food drive. In total, they donated 285 pounds of food to aid children and families struggling with food insecurity.
“I’m proud to work for an organization that values serving those in our neighborhood,” said Carlynn Oltman, a Licensed Practical Nurse at Aspen Transitional Rehab. “Participating in the Week of Service allowed me to serve and connect with my community beyond the walls of our facility.”
From California to Tennessee to Pennsylvania and Utah, participants sported matching Larry H. Miller Week of Service t-shirts.
