The Larry H. Miller Company (the LHM Company) announced the election of David Smart as its newest board member. Smart is the executive vice president, CFO and CIO of Milliken & Company, a leading global manufacturing company specializing in flooring, textiles, chemicals and, healthcare solutions since 1865.
“We are pleased to welcome David to our board of directors. His board experience, public and private company insights, and perspectives operating family-owned businesses will contribute greatly as the Larry H. Miller Company continues to grow,” said Steve Miller, board chair of the LHM Company.
“David’s wealth of experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to further the LHM Company’s mission of enriching lives and build our platforms and investments,” said Steve Starks, CEO and board member of the LHM Company.
Before joining Milliken & Company, Smart served as senior vice president and CFO for Pella Corporation and spent 20 years with Ford Motor Company.
“We are thrilled to welcome David to the board. His experience in mergers and acquisitions, finance, tax, treasury, and information technology will enhance our business enterprises and investments,” said Mary Lee Schneider, lead independent director of the LHM Company board.
Smart serves on the board of trustees for Converse University, the board of trustees for the Spartanburg Philharmonic, and the board of Edsal Manufacturing Company and is the audit committee chair. He is also a member of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Dean’s Council.
Smart holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in finance, business economics and public policy from Indiana University.
