“We are excited to welcome Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico to our community. This weekend promises to be an amazing event that will showcase the connection baseball has with the Hispanic and Latino communities in Salt Lake City and the state of Utah,” said Ty Wardle, executive vice president of Miller Sports + Entertainment.
The event and activities kick off on Saturday, October 5, at 3:30 p.m. when gates open at Smith’s Ballpark with live music, vendors, food and more. The opening pitch takes place at 6:35 p.m. Saturday’s game will be followed by a postgame drone show that will light up the sky over Smith’s Ballpark. Game two of the series will be at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, with gates opening at 10:00 a.m., and will feature a postgame concert and party on the field following the game.
“This event will be about not just baseball but the heart and culture of our community,” said Luz Escamilla, Utah State Senator. “We are grateful for the Salt Lake Bees and Miller Sports + Entertainment for their sponsorship, expertise and support in bringing this event to life. We are excited to partner with Salt Lake City as Smith’s Ballpark will be the epicenter for the upcoming activities, games and celebrations.”
Founded in 1945, Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico (LaMP) is a professional baseball winter league featuring 10 teams that compete throughout Northwestern Mexico. Each year, the league’s champion competes in the Caribbean Series.
The two games at Smith’s Ballpark will feature Los Venados de Mazatlán taking on Los Charros de Jalisco. Mazatlán is one of the league’s founding franchises, boasting nine LaMP titles and two Caribbean League championships. Meanwhile, Jalisco won the LaMP championship twice and is one of just two teams to compete simultaneously in the LaMP and Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (LMP).
“We cannot wait to introduce Salt Lake City to Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico,” said Edgar González, Former MLB and Mexican National Baseball team player and current Fox Sports Analyst. “We will bring high-level baseball with unmatched passion and entertainment to Smith’s Ballpark.
