Sarah Starkey, general counsel for Larry H. Miller Dealerships, has been named one of Utah Business’ Forty Under 40 for 2015, recognized for her role providing legal counsel to Larry H. Miller Dealerships (55 stores in seven states), Saxton Horne Communications and Total Care Auto, as well as her community involvement. She will be honored on February 26, 2015 at an awards ceremony held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. The distinction recognizes up-and-coming professionals in the Utah business community. “Sarah is truly deserving of this honor. In addition to her significant role with our organization, Sarah is an active member of the community and devotes many hours to serving organizations such as The Road Home and Girl Scouts of Utah,” said Dean Fitzpatrick, president of Larry H. Miller Dealerships. “She’s also active in the automotive industry, serving on a committee with the National Automobile Dealers Association.” Starkey joined the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies (LHM Group) in October 2010 as a staff attorney. She currently sits on the government relations committee for the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and is an active member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel and the New Car Dealers Association of Utah. Starkey is dedicated to supporting the interests of the disadvantaged and underserved in her community, and thus serves as the community outreach chair for Women Lawyers of Utah and on the service committee for The Road Home. She was recently appointed to the board of directors for Girl Scouts of Utah, where she leads an outreach Girl Scout troop consisting of girls who currently reside at The Road Home winter shelter. Prior to joining the LHM Group, Starkey practiced law in Los Angeles, Calif., specializing in asset protection and wealth management, corporate structure and compliance, employment law, estate planning, real estate and high-net-worth family law. She earned her juris doctor, graduating summa cum laude, from an accelerated two-year legal program at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, Calif. A native of Spokane, Wash., Starkey earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a certificate in criminology and corrections, from the University of Utah.
